. good morning, every. the big weather story has been the drought and the heat throughout much of texas. we were very encouraged that we could get a tropical storm that would head over texas and you can see that big red blob. this is tropical storm don. it does not appear that don will bring us the relieve that we need. houston probably won't see anything, corpus krissy christy some showers. it has tracked further south than we would have liked. you can see that the bapath is more north/northwest. we wanted to end up in central texas. it looks like it will rain itself out over northern mexico and the mountains and that will quickly break the storm up. so even west texas may not get the relief we were hoping for. landfall should be sometime close to midnight and then it will quickly be moving out. so in brownsville, by saturday morning, this could be over with. and it should be anywhere between a 50 to 65-mile-an-hour tropical storm. so at bit of a pump, but it won't do any devastation. we were hoping for rain. you can see the scattered showers off the coast that will be arriving during

and that could seem like a big hit, but close to 97 points today, but obviously celebrated by day's end but with the losses here, we are battling reaction to not only no progress on talks in washington, but not much good news on the economy, in general, with more indications of that from a hot -- host of companies including merck laying off 13,000. and at 6:00 p.m. eastern, we are waiting for two hours when the house of representatives will take up the boehner measure. that is the measure that will include a balanced budget amendment to make it more palatable for conservative members who did not quite fine it their cup of tea. the tea partyers were not fond of it and even if john boehner gets the vote what happens after that? harry reid has all but said he will table it, and it is not going anywhere, and he has his own plan in the senate which will be introduced this weekend, which is not palatable to all of his members and may not make the 60 vote he needs and after the senate would not get any support in the house of representatives. so we are at loggerheads. reaction from republican

, but when i got together with the cast. family dinner is a big part of our show. the first thing we shot on the pilot, the first day, was the family dinner scene. we had to kind of pretend we had a relationship, but they are so good, these actors, and having done a long series, they are also so good as people. they are people i want to spend some time with. tavis: i had no idea your first answer would include a comment about those family dinners. as is often the case, i am in my dressing room and my producer an assistant, everyone in that room said the best thing about the show in every episode, you guys meet around the dinner table. it is a powerful thing. what do you make of that? >> i think there is a cultural thing, not only in this country but probably throughout the world. everybody did not have a family like the ravens. everybody did not have that opportunity. but they had family or wish they had that output. it is an adult family drama. family drama usually involves an argument, which is siblings and parents and kids. i think the real secret to it is the show has a very procedura

so that they are stable and do not drain the general fund. that is a big aspect of it. another huge issue is the deferred maintenance on our infrastructure. we have a lot of infrastructure that has been deteriorating because we have not maintained properly. that includes roads, sewer systems, muni. we need to be much more diligent about maintaining our infrastructure. some of the big citywide issues that impact the district include transportation. we had more muni service and some other districts. it is not always reliable. some of the major bus lines in the district are not reliable. we have major projects like the renovation of delores park. it is an opportunity to define what the park is and what changes we want to make to it. that is going to be and port project, the same thing with glen canyon that is going to undergo a lot of work. one of the most challenging parts of the new district supervisor is that we elect the supervisors by district. it is very important to pay attention to the district, be engaged in the projects in the district. we also represent the whole city. any d

were invited to perform in the presence in upstate new york for the holiday. it was not a big political thing. it was a holiday. we were just going to go and sing sing christmas carols, do some rap songs, whether we could do to cheer up the brothers that were locked up. we started to do it over and over again. it was only 10 years later and that we began to see ways to use that in a more pro-active way. we would come out of a nightclub in new york city, my brother, my cousin, and i. we had had some experience with the police harassing us on the streets. this particular night, somebody had gotten into a fight, we were probably the only black folks in a white neighborhood the party that they were at, they were playing salsa, marvin gaye, and we were hanging out after the birthday party. we got caught up in a situation where the police had been called for shots fired. we happened to be the only black people there, they got us and put us in jail. that was the first day that you mentioned. the long and short of it is, i was in my second year of law school at the time. i am reading all these

for weeks and weeks and weeks over big proposals to cut $4 trillion in spending and remake the way america collects taxes. mr. boehner fell pressure from consumer lives -- boehner felt pressure from consumerconservats and walked away. he did get involved. now he is kind of out of the room and is a mere spectator, as you indicated. >> at the end of the day, it looks like the debt ceiling will be raised. it has happened three times during the obama administration. >> yes, this is a strange fight for american lawmakers. in the past, the debt ceiling was raised routinely on the backs of other pieces of legislation. the so-called tea party republicans, who were elected as the referendum against obama and the democrats', said they would never raise the debt ceiling. that's the problem mr. boehner is facing. they have had months to get their troops ready for this. they are close. there's only a handful of votes away -- they are only a handful of votes away. the people elected in 2010 were elected on the single platform of not raising the debt ceiling. it has been an uphill battle for mr. boehner.
